SHOP WHOLE FOODS
Published on August 14, 2009 By Daiwa In Politics

Alright, everybody - let's rally in support of John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods, a guy with a whole lot of common sense, which the lefty granola crowd apparently finds offensive and worthy of a boycott.  They actually believe that he should be a slave to the political views of some of his customers, like he owes them because they choose to shop there.

So.  Go buy some healthy food, today, and help stimulate the economy.  We should adopt Whole Foods as our official 'Grocer to the Mob' and push their profits through the roof.

"While Mackey is worried about health care and stimulus spending, he doesn't seem too worried about expensive wars and tax breaks for the wealthy and big businesses such as his own that contribute to the deficit," said Lent.

Ah, the bleeting of liberals. (no need to say stupid-liberal, it will be restating the obvious)

God forbid a generally liberal person will point out how bad bailouts and this so called "reform" is. That makes him an evil traitor.

"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money,"

Smart man he is... the CEO of whole foods...

"You should know who butters your hearth-baked bread, John," wrote the commenter. "Last time I checked it wasn't the insurance industry conservatives who made you a millionaire a hundred times over."

One of many "responses" that say the same thing, we made you rich, now follow our "beleifs"... oh wait...

While Mackey reduced his annual salary to one dollar in 2007, after explaining to employees he was "no longer interested in working for money," Mackey is still the head of the 10th largest food and drug store in the U.S.

That is right, mister "millionere many times over" is actually working for a dollar a year...

*shrugs*

If people don't want to not shop at a place because of the CEO's views, then so be it.

Absolutely.  It's just very enlightening to hear the reactions and explanations of their anger.

There are lots of ironies in all this.  PhRMA & the AMA getting tighter with BO than Brian Williams, WalMart morphing overnight from 'the most evil thing to ever happen to America' to darling of the left for endorsing single-payer being great examples.

Another irony is that this highly successful company, Whole Foods, has adopted a patient-centered market-oriented healthcare benefit that has reduced its overall cost and enabled the company to fully fund employees' premiums, something you'd think the left would be pleased about - Great place to work, right?  Not to mention very Green, right?  But no, advocating widespread adoption of a plan similar to the one they're willing to give their employees is 'evil' even if the op-ed was done at the invitation of the Obama administration, yet another irony.

I don't know if any of you have been in a Whole Foods Market lately, but they are beautiful, staffed by apparently happy employees and offer a selection of products which apparently appeal to a more health-conscious clientele (as the left would have you believe only they are) yet some left-leaning customers are outraged at the way the company managed to do that and at the audacity of its CEO being so un-PC in suggesting the 'Whole Foods way' might be a good way for others.

True to form, however, Whole Foods is now trying to backtrack & minimize the feared 'damage' to its brand.

Headin' over to do a little shoppin' there this afternoon.

OK, just got back.  Asked for & spoke to the store manager, let her know why I was there (Mr. Mackey's op-ed) and thanked her for her time.  I must not have been the first to say something to her - she knew what I was going to say before I said it.  Also said the LA stores were getting 'hit hard' by negative complaints - no surprise there.

If you have one nearby, go patronize it if you are willing and able.
