I freely admit I have a very morbid sense of humor, but the subject matter was horrific and very depressing, to which the only rational emotional response is sadness. That's why the last line jumped off the screen. It was such a startling example of stupidity that my immediate gut reaction was laughter (literally out loud) at how the robotic use of the 'style book' completely obliterates common sense.
