I just installed Microsoft 365 (had no choice in the matter, neither here nor there).  Now the right-click "Change Icon" function is not working - dialog just fails to appear.  I can open IP itself but the right-click option is on the fritz, even after a reboot.

Anyone else encounter this?  Suggestions?  Uninstall/reinstall?

Thanks,

Daiwa

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. More information on your system and issue please.

  1. Windows 7,8,10 or 11? And its version numbers please.
  2. Iconpackager version numbers.
  3. Right click within IP? Customize sections? or Else where?
  4. A screenshot of what you're looking at will help.

Thanks

Sorry, should have included this with the post.

Win10 Pro 21H1 19043.1466

IP 10.03

Issue is with right-click on an icon, then selecting "Change Icon" - nothing happens now, whereas it was working normally prior to installing Microsoft 365.

Thanks.

Hello,

Right click an icons inside Windows explorer or within IP? On Desktop?

Desktop icons or in Explorer.

Strange, I don't see "change icons" on my right click menu when I right click on any icons. And this system do not have Office install. Do you saw it before you install Office 365? Maybe uninstall Office 365 and take a screenshot of your right click menu.

This is the Right Click (Context) Menu in question.  Clicking Change Icon no longer brings up the IP change icon dialog.  Looked the same prior to installing MS 365.

Okay, after looking at your screenshot. I can find "Change Icons" and I can set and apply without issue on my system. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: [link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Got this error attempting to run the bat file as administrator:

Do I need to run IP & revert to all default icons before the purge?  Do I need to do a standard uninstall first?

Thx.

For further clarification, here is the dialog that fails to appear (from a different rig without 365):

Took a flyer and tried a standard uninstall, reboot, reinstall, but dialog still fails to appear.  IP applies packages normally, just can't change icons individually.  Interestingly, it remembered on reinstall the previously chosen individual non-default icons, except for the MS 365 related icons.

Sounds like those icons (MS365) are hard coded, and the 365 code negates the right click choice.

By jove, I think you are correct, Doc.  Initially, the change icon dialog wouldn't open for any desktop icons but after the reinstall, it is opening normally for non-MS365 icons.  Maybe SD can work their magic & get past the block, cause the 365 icons suck and the document icons are almost blinding in Dark Mode and list view which is of course what I deal with all day.

(One can hope, right?)

Hope all is well with you, Sir.
